I love the variety of movements, modifications, and room to always improve and grow within this sport. There is something for everyone.

Those who know me, know I have a love for all creatures great and small. I am a veterinarian
and practice small animal medicine/surgery at Alpine Animal Clinic. I have a farm background
and was raised on a wheat grain operation in Eastern Montana, with my two siblings. I
graduated from MSU with an animal science degree and then went onto veterinary school at
WSU. After graduating from veterinary school, my husband and I spent time in Idaho and
Oregon, before finally making our way back home to Montana.

I started Crossfit in the spring of 2016. Prior to starting Crossfit, I was running a lot and doing
some group fitness classes at a local gym. I was bored with fitness, and although Crossfit
initially seemed intimidating, it piqued my interest. I love the variety of movements,
modifications, and room to always improve and grow within this sport. There is something for
everyone.

The thing I love the most about Crossfit is the community. There are like minded people doing
these workouts with you and have the same common goal of fitness and health. I have met
some of my best friends, and some who I would consider extended family through Crossfit. I
also love that I get to share this activity with my husband.

My typical day would consist of being woken up by my pre-alarm clock dachshunds, wanting
breakfast at about 6:45 AM. I then head off to work and spend the day moving in and out of
appointments, surgery and dental procedures, and triaging/treating emergencies. I eat lunch on
the go most days, but try to pack one from home. If I am lucky, I can sneak away to a 5:30 PM
CF class, but most times, it is usually the 6:30 PM class. I would love to go to CF classes
Monday-Friday, but my work schedule usually allows me to go reliably, three times a week. I
love evening classes, as it is a way for me to release my day’s stress and go home with a clear
mind.

Crossfit is equally important for my mental health as it is my physical health. I feel very
fortunate to have found something that has not only bettered my health, but fulfilled my life in so
many other ways.
