I love so many things about FireTower. There are athletes of all levels crushing the WOD. You quickly become part of a community and the accountability is addicting. FireTower ensures your workouts aren’t monotonous, and that your successes are CELEBRATED.
I’m from Clancy, MT attended Clancy Elementary and Helena High playing basketball, volleyball and track. In my early years I was also dedicated to traveling soccer.
After high school I ventured to Montana Tech for four years and received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Go Diggers!
My drive for competition ignited early on in life, as I was chasing after my 3 older siblings. Playing sports instilled teamwork in my ethics, and I’ll be the first to admit I always look forward to a fellow crossfitter grinding next to me during those WODs (insert Kelli and Alara).
I first started CrossFit after college when I craved to be apart of a team again. I could go to the gym myself and did throughout my college years. However, I always struggled with planning what I was going to do for my workout. I never could seem to find the happy medium of not over doing it or the opposite, walking out not satisfied with the work done for the day.
Fast Forward to CrossFit, where the hardest part is walking through the door. Your coach greets you, your workout is planned out and your equipment is ready to go and the atmosphere is always good!
My dad always had this saying of “setting small, obtainable goals leads to success and consistency”.
Beyond the whiteboard and Firetower keeps me intrigued with tracking WOD, PR, and daily successes. In addition, I strive to close my rings on my Apple Watch daily, and I also set a goal to make it to the gym 4-5 days a week, or 21 days per month.
It’s very satisfying to me to see my name on the board at the end of the month. (Thank you Firetower!)
I work full time as an operating room nurse and am a mama to 3 children-Addy(6) Clayton(4)and Theo(3). You’ll more than likely catch me at the 5:30AM class, when the rest of my family is still catching Z’s. I like to think of this time as my own and I don’t feel guilty of missing out on any time with my family!
My husband sacrifices getting the kids up and ready for school for me. Go Joe! Straight after workout I head to the hospital to clock in at 6:45, throw some scrubs on and grind out a 10 hour day of surgery.
I usually get a break about 9 to eat breakfast. This is only 15 minutes, so my meals are often grab and go! Greek yogurt with blueberries and a protein bar, with 24 ounces of water as a staple. Being in a sterile environment where food and water isn’t readily available makes it tricky to get my protein and water in, so I make the most of it when I can!
I almost always crave something warm for lunch and have a little more time to eat now, so I take advantage with usually a larger warm meal that carries me through the rest of the afternoon.
If my day goes as planned, I’m off by 5:30pm. Depart to gather my children, attend any extra curricular activities, squeeze in dinner-homework-bath-time and snuggles all before bedtime at 8. I follow suit and am more than likely asleep by 9 at the latest, anticipating my 4:45 alarm clock.
Going to the gym is just as much beneficial mentally as it is physically. Working out in the morning sets the pace for my day. I am energized when I get to work, thank you to my pre-workout and release of endorphins. In addition, I find that I eat better and hit my water intake more consistently. Even on the days I don’t really want to go, I never regret that I went. There are days that I have a mentality of, “I’m just going to go move my body today” and almost always leave working much harder than I expected.
My job is physically demanding, moving patients who are asleep, holding extremities for extended periods of times and maneuvering heavy equipment. Firetower has helped me gain strength while maintaining mobility so I can keep doing those things!
The environment that FireTower provides is welcoming and motivating and keeps you coming back for more! Everyone is cheering for everyone, and every day you are competing against yourself to be better and accomplish more. It is a built-in accountability system. Your fellow attendees and coaches look forward to you being there and encourage you every lift of the way.
